It's our weekly start 'em, sit 'em feature - "Fine or Pine." Either these guys are just fine to keep rolling out in your lineup, or you should really be showing them to the bench. (Grab some pine, buddy!)
Adam Filadelfo is back once again to shine some light on this week's matchups. You can follow him on Twitter - @Frostt24.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Week four of the fantasy football season is about to kick off and you
may have some questions about who you should start and which players you should
sit. Well lucky for you The Fantasy Sports Brain has some ideas for you.
Quarterback
Fine: Andrew Luck - After his eighteen for twenty seven for 164 yards and
twenty four rushing yards and a touchdown performance versus the 49ers,
Luck gets the hapless Jaguars in week four. Luck should have no issues
putting up fantasy points this week.
Pine: Michael Vick - After practically getting his head handed to him in
week three against the Chiefs, Vick once again faces a tough defense in
the Broncos who through three weeks have six interceptions and eight
sacks. While the Eagles should put up points against the Broncos, Denver
will not make it easy and should have a good game against Vick and the
Eagles.
Running Back
Fine: Frank Gore - After the Rams were shredded by DeMarco Murray in week
three and the 49ers coming off a blowout loss, expect Frank Gore to put
up fantasy points and get the 49ers back to their winning ways. The
Rams couldn't stop the run last week
and probably won't fare much better this week either.
Pine: Chris Johnson - CJ2K gets a tough run defense in week four when the
Titans host the Jets. Week one he compiled seventy rushing yards. Week
two ninety six and week three ninety. The Jets defend well versus the
run so this will not be a big week for Chris Johnson either.
Wide Receiver
Fine: Demaryius Thomas - This game should be a shootout and the Eagles
defense can't seem to stop the pass or the run and Peyton and the
Broncos have had their way with every defense they've faced so far. If
Thomas can have ten receptions for almost one hundred yards versus the
Raiders, imagine the field day he'll have facing the non existent
defense in Philadelphia.
Pine: Vincent Jackson - V-Jax is considered day to day with a rib injury
he suffered in week three plus he will draw attention from Patrick
Peterson. Add to that rookie quarterback Mike Glennon is making his
first NFL start and V-Jax sounds like he could be in for a dud of a
game. Hopefully you have a better option.
Tight End
Fine: Julius Thomas - Just like his teammate Demaryius, Julius should
have a big game facing the Eagles poor excuse for a defense. Granted
Julius Thomas had his lowest reception game week three but all Denver
receivers should get some action when they play the Eagles this week.
Pine: Coby Fleener - Even though the Colts play the Jaguars this week,
Fleener can't be considered a starting fantasy tight end. His numbers so
far this season are one reception in week one, four receptions in week
two and two receptions in week three. Luck clearly doesn't throw to
Fleener and I look for that trend to continue in week four. (Note from Dave: This is a risky pine choice here by Adam, in my opinion... Fleener could get a bump with the injury to Dwayne Allen especially in a great matchup like this one. That said, he didn't exactly get the bump last week and the Colts are going to be feeding the running backs all day to run down the clock. This could actually be a brilliant call by my man Adam... but it makes me nervous!)
Defense
Fine: Indianapolis - After holding the defending NFC champion 49ers to a
measly seven points in week three, don't expect the Jaguars to put up
much more of an offensive barrage. It sounds like Gabbert will be under
center and that makes the Jaguars' chances even worse for scoring points
in week four.
Pine: Miami - The Dolphins get the Saints in week four and one of Miami's
best defensive players in Cameron Wake may not be playing. Look for
Brees to pick apart the Dolphins defense with the pass rush not at full
strength.
